Guasco Keeps Loggers Afloat

MCMINNVILLE, Oregon (October 20, 2024) - It was in the 84th minute that Sydney Boyd connected with Amelia Guasco who then found the back of the Linfield goal to ensure the Loggers (5-4-5, 5-1-4 NWC) return to Tacoma without a loss this weekend.

The Loggers far outplayed the Wildcats, especially in the second half wherein UPS finished with ten shots and Linfield finished with only one. In total, the Loggers had 14 shots, nine on goal, and Linfield had three shots, all on goal. Both Zoe Witter and Mazy Wright notched two shots, with both of Witters' and one of Wright's on target.

Linfield's goalkeeper Alexa Fritz kept the game in check and gave them the edge for the majority of the game, finishing the match with eight saves - a necessity to keep the Loggers at bay for as long as possible. Both Logger Kya Scott and Wildcat Rae Gerking finished the game with cautions, a part of the total four fouls from UPS and seven from Linfield.

The Loggers next take on the Pacific Lutheran Lutes on Wednesday, October 23rd at Puget Sound, with kickoff slated for 3:00 PM.
