MCMINNVILLE, Oregon (October 26, 2024) - Logger Football (1-6, 0-4 NWC) was unable to stop the attack this week as they traveled south to challenge the top-25 Linfield Wildcats.
The Wildcats amassed a total of 28 points against the Loggers before
Mason Binning exploited a gap in coverage and
Joe Gallagher burned the defensive backs for a 55-yard receiving touchdown. Linfield would score once against in the 2nd quarter, sending the Loggers into halftime with the scoreboard reading 6-35.
Mason Binning was able to complete 25 of his 41 pass attempts for a total of 227 yards and one touchdown, and a long of 55 yards - the scoring pass to Gallagher. Backup quarterback
Hayden Teeter notched his first touchdown pass of the season with a five yard pass to
Nick Fernandez late in the fourth quarter, ending the scoring for both teams with 5:37 left to play.
Head Coach Jeff Thomas emphasized that the Loggers "faced a playoff team and were lacking in the fundamentals of each position. We will get back after it on Monday to fix our mistakes," he continued, "and we'll be ready for our next home game."
On Saturday, the Loggers face the Willamette Bearcats, who sit 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the Northwest conference. The Bearcats this season are only averaging 9.9 points per game, whereas on average they allow 39.6 points per game. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm on Baker Field & Peyton Stadium.
