Men’s Soccer Celebrates Senior Day With A 5-0 Victory

TACOMA, Washington (October 26, 2024) - The Loggers celebrated 10 seniors prior to their 5-0 victory against the Lewis & Clark Pioneers.

Just six minutes into the match, Luke Sloan received the ball up the wing, putting the Loggers in a great offensive position. Sloan dropped the ball to Riley Reisner who spotted Rhys Foote inside the 18-yard box. Foote took two touches around the defenders and slipped the ball near-post past the Pioneers goalkeeper to put the Loggers up 1-0. Not long after, a foul was called on the Pioneers and Pema Globus stepped up to take the kick. Globus drilled a shot from 30 yards out that the Pioneers keeper couldn't control and Foote found the rebound for his second goal of the game.

The Loggers continued their attack and were able to score two more times before the end of the half. Off a corner kick by Globus, Ian Cameron's volley forced a rebound. Shane Aigner collected the ball at the penalty mark and found the back of the net for his first career goal. Three minutes later, Globus and Cameron came together once again to extend the Loggers lead to 4-0 off a corner kick header to the side-netting.

The Loggers held 55% of possession during the first half, and had nine shots, eight of which were on frame. Their domination continued in the second half where the Loggers increased their control and notched five more shots. Both teams had 11 fouls, but the Pioneers received two yellow cards compared to the Loggers one.

Leif Anderson, assisted by Etienne Polak, went 1-on-1 with the Pios keeper and scored the final goal in the 79th minute to solidify the Loggers victory on senior day.

The seniors have two more regular season home games left in their career as they take on George Fox University and Pacific University next weekend. Games will kick off on 11/2 and 11/3, respectively, at 12pm.
