TACOMA, Washington (October 26, 2024) - The Loggers swept the Lewis and Clark Pioneers in decisive fashion tonight to increase their win streak to four games.
The Loggers got off to a strong start, leading the first set 15-6. However, the Pioneers gave the Loggers a run for their money, eventually scoring nine straight points to lead 18-19. Final points of the set went back and forth but eventually the Loggers secured the win off a kill by
Erin Fagan to take the set 25-22.
The Pioneers won the first point of the second set, but the Loggers took back the momentum and led 7-2. The Loggers furthered their lead to 19-11 and ultimately 23-14. Only two points from securing the set, the Pioneers scored five straight points but were unable to stop
Ashley McMaster from earning two kills to put the Loggers over.
Early in the third set,
Akira Anderson served seven straight points, scoring four aces. The Loggers lead was extended to 17-7, and the deficit was too big for the Pioneers to handle. The third set was quickly won by the Loggers 25-14.
Sarah Johnsen led the team tonight with 10 kills and 1.5 blocks.
Maddie Badger followed suit with eight kills and 2.5 blocks.
Akira Anderson had a season high 10 digs and five aces to support the Logger victory.
Volleyball returns to Memorial Fieldhouse next Friday at 7pm to take on Pacific University.
