TACOMA, Washington (November 15, 2024) - Coming off two road wins, the Loggers were unable to extend their win streak in their home opener against the Chapman Panthers, falling 58-91.
The game started off close, with both teams tied 9-9 eight minutes in. The Panthers took a decisive lead, running the score up 11-22. The Loggers were unable to take advantage of their offensive opportunities, making zero of their seven three-pointers and eight out of 26 field goals. The lead was extended by the Panthers by the end of the half to 23-45.
The Loggers kicked off the second half strong, only allowing the Panthers to score six points, while tallying 13 for themselves to shrink the gap. But, a timeout by the Panthers turned things around as they scored in five straight possessions. The Panthers led by 36 points at their best, a deficit the Loggers were unable to come back from.
Ian Cook led the Loggers with 12 points, having made 100% of his free throws for the night. On the defensive end,
Dezman Baker, who had 11 points, forced three turnovers and
Hugo Rutherfurd had two blocks.
The men tip-off again tomorrow at 6pm against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Stags.
