TACOMA, Washington (November 16, 2024) - Morale was high in Memorial Fieldhouse tonight as the Loggers secured their first home win of the season, defeating the Claremont Mudd Scripps Stags 72-64.
The Loggers got off to a slow start, going down 0-6 early in the game and eventually 6-12.
Zane Miller and
Liam Ruttledge came off the bench, and the tides started to change. They rung up a combined 21 points, and Miller ended the half with 80% field goal and three-point percentages. The Loggers dialed in and took the lead, extending it to 10 points going into halftime. Both their field-goal and three-point percentages were over 50%, a stat they could not duplicate last night.
Will Pohland made 100% of his free-throw to help put the Loggers on top.
In the second half the Stags chipped their way back into the game, forcing turnovers and taking advantage of their opportunities in the paint. The two teams were tied up 49-49. A timeout for the Loggers helped them regain their composure and take the lead back. Ruttledge led the team with 19 points tonight, followed by
Taj Phillips with 17 points and 6 assists.Â
The Loggers head back on the road to take on Warner Pacific University this Tuesday at 7 p.m.
