TACOMA, Washington (November 2, 2024) - The Loggers (7-4-6, 7-1-5 NWC) found themselves leading early on in their 5-0 win against the George Fox Bruins (5-8-3, 2-8-3 NWC).
Five minutes into the match the Loggers found the Bruins goalkeeper out of place, but were unable to get a solid shot off. The Loggers attack looked strong as they consistently found pockets behind the Bruins defense, getting off three clean shots and several blocked attempts.
Kya Scott found herself wide open inside the box off a cross from
Leila Hausia-Haugen and put the Loggers up 1-0. The rest of the half was dominated by the Loggers, but no other goals were conceded by the Bruins defense.
The lone goal didn't last long into the second half. In the 48th minute, Hausia-Haugen targeted
Zoe Fowler on a cross who was able to flick the ball into the back of the net. A short five minutes later, Scott found herself back on the board off a one-two with
Zoe Witter.
The Loggers sat comfortably, leading the Bruins 3-0, but they didn't stop there. In the 73rd minute,
Amelia Guasco sent a rocket of a shot over the head of the Bruins keeper to extend the lead. With just two minutes to go,
Hannah Fufa scored her first goal of the season to solidify the Loggers' victory. The Loggers outshot the Bruins 16-4 and controlled 64% of possession throughout the game, mostly in the attacking third.
The women play their last home game tomorrow against Pacific University. Prior to the 1:45pm kick-off, they will celebrate their seven graduating seniors.
