Foote Scores Two In 3-3 Draw Against Pacific

TACOMA, Washington (November 3, 2024) - The Loggers completed their last home game of the 2024 season with a high-scoring 3-3 tie against the Pacific University Boxers.

Both teams started off firing, with five being taken early on in the match. Forward Jackson Smith threatened the Boxers with two close calls saved by the Pacific keeper. The Boxers found the scoreboard first, going up 1-0 in the 34th minute. Many substitutions were made for the Loggers, and multiple fouls were called on the Boxers, but the score remained the same going into halftime.

The Loggers' attacking efforts started to pay off. Just five minutes into the second half, Jackson Smith was able to find the diving head of Rhys Foote. However, the excitement was short-lived. The Loggers gave up the ball in their own 18-yard box and the Boxers took advantage, making quick work of the disorganization to take back the lead.

For twenty more minutes the Loggers and Boxers went back and forth, until the Boxers gave up a penalty kick in the 72nd minute. Pema Globus stepped up to take the kick and put the Loggers back into the game. Not even three minutes later, Foote found the back of the net again. Jake Aigner and Lucas Krause worked to get the cross off and Foote got his head on the end of it to give the Loggers the lead for the first time in the match.

As the game went on it seemed that the Loggers' control of the ball, maintaining 57% of possession throughout the match, was going to pay off. Unfortunately, with less than a minute to go a penalty kick was called for the Boxers and they were able to tie up the game 3-3. With the point from today's draw, the men sit in the middle of the conference standings with 22 points.

The Loggers will travel to Eastern Washington for the last weekend of conference games to take on Whitman and Whitworth.
