NORTHFIELD, Minnesota (November 8, 2024) - Puget Sound's Men's Basketball team got it done this evening as the final buzzer sounded in their first game of preseason activities against the Carleton Knights.
The Knights started strongly, at one point up 24 points in the first half, and by 29 in the second.
Liam Ruttledge played the most for the Loggers, with 31 total minutes of play, and made great use of his time on the court with a total of nineteen points. It was clear tonight, that this win was not only an individual performance - but a team effort on both offense and defense as the Loggers attempted to climb the ladder that was the scoreboard throughout the second half. "We never gave up," said guard
Will Pohland, who is back after a year of recovery from a medical hardship. "We knew playing on the road was going to be tough; it takes another level of toughness - but we came back from halftime and took a 'one possession at a time' approach. Everyone bought into their role."
Bought in, they did. Coach
Aubrey Shelton was extremely proud of the efforts his men showed throughout the course of the game, staying composed and working as a unit to get their first notch in the win column. He shouted out Ruttledge, for "huge threes", Dezman 'Dez' Baker for playing the entire second half with 4 fouls,
Taj Phillips for the late go-ahead bucket,
Zane Miller for the game-clinching rebound, and
Hugo Rutherfurd for multiple "timely blocks and buckets".
The Loggers have not ever had a comeback of this capacity, and plan to continue with this momentum  as they attack tomorrow's opponent, Augsburg, The teams will meet each other at 5:00pm for tip-off in Minnesota.
