WALLA-WALLA, Washington (November 9, 2024) - Logger Women's Soccer (8-4-7, 8-1-6 NWC) was hoping for a different result this afternoon during their competition with the Whitman Blues. With an 11-5-3 record, 8-4-3 in the Northwest Conference, the Blues sit in the middle of the standings. However, they held strong on this brisk fall day, holding the Loggers to a 1-1 draw.
Leila Hausia-Haugen had yet another game with a goal, putting the Loggers on the board and waking up a sleepy Whitman defense after just eight and a half minutes of play, assisted by
Zoe Fowler. Unfortunately for the red and white, this was the one and only goal. The Blues' attacking chances were held off by goalkeeper Giana Maldonado until the 51st minute, wherein Whitman's Virginia Hunt was able to get the Blues on the board. The Loggers had four times as many corner kick opportunities as the Blues, but were unable to convert, ending the game as a tie.
Shortly after,
Kya Scott was shown a straight red card and will miss the Logger's last regular season match tomorrow in Spokane, where they take on the Whitworth Pirates at 1:45pm and continue their efforts to secure a playoff at-large bid.
