WALLA-WALLA, Washington (November 9, 2024) - Volleyball (16-7, 13-3 NWC) took the "W" in their last game of the regular season, against the Whitman Blues (6-17, 5-11) this evening.
Sarah Johnsen and
Mackenzie Leith are yet again fixtures at the top of the box score, each with 11 kills.
Skya Favor had 10, ensuring the Logger's success.
Puget Sound was without standout freshman
Maddie Badger this weekend, but it didn't matter yesterday.
Samantha Keightley recorded another 17 digs,
Lauren Ly recorded 15, and
Randi Rush had a staggering 47 assists. After the first two sets, it seemed as if the Loggers would go home in three straight sets, but the Blues held out, winning the third 21-25. However, the Loggers cleaned up the court in the fourth set, finishing the game 3-1 with a final set score of 25-19, beating Whitman for the second win against the Blues this season.
Head Coach Mark Massey and his squad are of course excited for this upcoming week, which first sees them in the Northwest Conference playoffs on Friday against Pacific Lutheran, hosted in Spokane. Then, provided the Loggers best the Lutherans for the second time this season, they'll play Saturday evening against the winner of the Whitworth-George Fox match.
