HONOLULU, Hawaii (22 December 2024) - Logger Women's Basketball concluded their time at the Hoops in Hawaii Classic today with a double-overtime thriller against Centre College.
Coming off a narrow loss to Occidental, the Loggers started strong, building a 12-point lead early in the second quarter. Puget Sound maintained control throughout the period, entering halftime with a 31-19 advantage.
Centre College mounted a comeback in the second half, steadily chipping away at the Loggers' lead during the third and fourth quarters. The game was sent to overtime after Centre tied the score with just 33 seconds remaining in regulation.
In the first overtime period, the Loggers gained a four-point lead, but Centre evened the score again, sinking a field goal with only seven seconds left. During the second overtime, Puget Sound held a five-point lead at two different points, but the Colonels responded yet again. With no time remaining, Centre scored the go-ahead basket, clinching a 64-62 victory.
Puget Sound heads home for the holidays, and will return to play on January 3rd at 8:00 p.m at Whitman College.
