Game Recap: Baseball |

Puget Sound Baseball scores five homeruns in double loss to Willamette

SALEM, Ore. — Davis Franklin scored a homerun in each game, but the Loggers still fell 2-1 and 14-10 against Willamette University on Saturday.

In the first game against the Willamette Bearcats, Franklin's homerun was the single run scored, the Loggers and Bearcats each had four hits overall. It was a homerun from Jeff Hoffman that scored in two runs for the Bearcats to take the lead in the sixth inning.

Then in the second game, the Loggers led the scoring with an RBI for Cody Hirano who scored in Drew Kamihara in the top of the first, but the Bearcats did the same in the bottom. Kahiau Teruya homered in the second, followed by a homer from Preston Crockett and Franklin in the fifth to score five more runs. Willamette equalized with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Willamette dominated the scoring in the sixth with four runs on four hits. Willamette then scored a grand-slam in the seventh inning, but Mason Seay pitched us out of the hole to end the inning 14-6.

In the eighth inning, Gio Parascondola would homer and score in Franklin to reduce the deficit to 14-8. In the final inning, the Loggers loaded up the bases for Hirano and Jack McCullar to single in two more, but not enough in a 14-10 loss.

The Loggers will have one more chance tomorrow, March 17, at noon in Salem.
