TACOMA, Wash. – Cat Schilli scores five goals for her second hat trick of the season, while freshman
Maggie Ott grabs her first hat trick in a 13-2 dominant win over Pacific University on Wednesday night in Baker Stadium.
Schilli led the scoring for the Loggers with five goals, one assist and seven ground balls. Ott followed with four goals and
Maya Sheklow and
Bailey Fuhrmann each had two goals. The Pacific Boxers had 26 turnovers compared to the Loggers 17 turnovers and 26 total ground balls.
The Puget Sound Lacrosse team played aggressive in the first few minutes, but the Loggers didn't score until 6:54 left in the first quarter, a goal from
Maya Sheklow. Sheklow would score off a free-position attempt and then do it again less than a minute later. Schilli would add one more free-position attempt goal to the first quarter, grabbing a 3-0 lead.
The Boxers would get into the game at the 7:55 mark of the second quarter with a goal from Cameron Cabuco after the Loggers goalie made a save off a free-position attempt. The Loggers would score three more goals, one from Ott and two goals from Fuhrmann.
The Loggers would continue to score seven more in the second half, starting with a goal from Schilli that she scored while the Loggers were a man-up. The Loggers would score two more before Pacific finall got the ball to the back of the net. The Loggers quickly responded with consecutive goals from Schilli to end the third period 11-2.
In the fourth period, the Loggers notched two more goals, with the final goal man-up after a yellow card was drawn by the Boxers.
Phoebe Crowther managed seven saves in the win.
The Loggers will be back in Baker Stadium on Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m., to face the Willamette University Bearcats.
