Mimi Carrier-Berndt scored one more in a 23-3 loss for the Puget Sound lacrosse team when they faced Willamette University on Saturday in Baker Stadium.
In the first quarter, the Willamette Bearcats jumped to a 4-0 lead, but the Loggers responded twice in the last 3 minutes and 23 seconds,
Maya Sheklow got a shot off before the buzzer, but the Bearcats goalie saved it. The Loggers would score one more time in the first half.
In the second half, the Bearcats would outscore the Loggers 9-0, the Loggers struggled to get open as the Bearcats ran a man-to-man defense and held the Loggers to minimal clearing opportunities. The Loggers managed only nine ground balls, while the Bearcats grabbed 17.
Phoebe Crowther had seven saves, but it wasn't enough in her first loss of the season.
The Loggers will head to Salem, Oregon to face Corban University on Monday, March 11, at 2 p.m.
