Blocher, McCullar score home runs in double win against Alfred State College

TACOMA, Wash. – Puget Sound baseball fought through adverse weather conditions to continue its winning streak by sweeping a doubleheader against Alfred State today by the scores of 7-3 and 3-2.

Game One – Puget Sound 7 – 3 Alfred State

Pitcher Davis Franklin kept the Pioneers scoreless through the first six innings of the game, only allowing one hit to that point. Meanwhile, the Loggers got on the scoreboard first in the second inning when Nathan Blocher hit a two-run home run to bring the score to 2-0.

It wasn't until the fifth inning that Puget Sound added to its lead when Aidan Sullivan singled, bringing home Davis Franklin. The Loggers second run of the inning occurred when Joshua Carrillo was hit by a pitch scoring Sean Murphy from third base. Gio Parascondola followed with a bases loaded single to bring in the third run of the inning. The Loggers finished the fifth inning leading 5-0.

Puget Sound brought in two more runners in the sixth inning extending is lead to 7-0. With Drew Kamihara's already at second base off an earlier single, Murphy picked up two RBIs with a home run.

Alfred State found its way onto the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning with two runs coming off of a batter hit by a pitch, two walks and two hits. The Pioneers added its final run of the game in the top of the eighth inning but couldn't get any momentum going to pass by the Loggers.
