TACOMA, Wash. — Cat Schilli scores three, but the Puget Sound Loggers still fall to the George Fox University Bruins, 23-3 on Saturday afternoon in Baker Stadium.
In a challenging lacrosse matchup, Puget Sound encountered a formidable opponent in George Fox across all four periods. The game began with the Bruins swiftly taking the lead, leaving Puget Sound struggling to find their footing. Despite Phoebe Crowther's efforts in goal, the Loggers found it difficult to contain the Bruin's offense, conceding multiple goals in quick succession.
The Loggers managed seven draw controls while the Bruins prospered with 19 draw controls. The Bruins outshot the Loggers 34-5, however Phoebe Crowther was able to make seven crucial saves for Puget Sound.
As the game progressed, Puget Sound fought hard to regain control, but George Fox's relentless pressure proved difficult to overcome. The Loggers were able to match George Fox's scoring advantages 2-2 in the second period, but a six-goal third period increased the Loggers deficit.
Despite moments of resilience from players like Bailey Fuhrmann and Schilli, Puget Sound faced challenges in maintaining possession and generating scoring opportunities. Schilli scored consecutive goals in the second period after she picked up a ground ball, she scored, followed by a draw control win that lead to another goal.
The Puget Sound Loggers will be back in Baker Stadium tomorrow, April 6, at 1 p.m.
