TACOMA, Wash. (September 12, 2024) - Freshman forward
Jackson Smith netted his first collegiate hat trick at Peyton Field in Baker Stadium this Thursday evening against the visiting Multnomah Lions.
While the Lions began the game with a strong possession percentage, this was their only saving grace until their single goal in the 64th minute by Jaren Bowler. The score tells the story; The Loggers were all over the Lions for nearly the entire game. Smith scored his first goal in the 32nd minute, setting the stage for the rest of the evening. Only four minutes later, and Jackson put another shot in the back of the net, the Loggers' second for the night.
Only three minutes later did the Loggers score yet again, but this time it was
Shane Ivich who fed
Pema Globus the ball. Heading into the half, the Loggers were leading 3-0.
Both
Rhys Foote and
Jackson Smith scored in the second half, as well as the Lions with their aforementioned standalone goal. Puget Sound outranked Multnomah 13-7 in shots, with 7 and 4 on target, respectively. The Loggers committed 12 fouls to the Lions' 5, receiving 3 cautions whereas the Lions were only issued one.
The Loggers have a small break, and then will take on the Linfield University Wildcats at home next Saturday at 12:00pm.
