Logger Volleyball Dominates Bearcats, Moves to 1-0 in NWC

TACOMA, Washington (Sept. 20, 2024) - Led by freshman Maddie Badger and Senior Sarah Johnsen, Logger Volleyball dominated the Willamette Bearcats this evening, winning the match three sets to one.

Puget Sound began the night incredibly strong, winning the first set by a whopping 13 points. They continued to cruise through the second set, only faltering in the third, giving the Bearcats a false sense of a comeback. Eight of Willamette's points scored in the third set were the result of errors on the Puget Sound side, who worked diligently in the fourth to overcome communication errors and finish out the game with a 25-15 win.

Going into tonight's matchup, the Loggers had a few of their star student-athletes sitting high in national and conference rankings. Badger is ranked #5 nationally in blocks per set (1.3), and in the Northwest Conference, #1 in blocks, #3 in points, #4 in hit percentage, and #6 in kills. Johnsen is tied at #3 in the nation in her position as a RS, with .89 blocks per set, which places her at #108 nationally across all positions. Akira Anderson is at #4 in the Northwest Conference in aces, and libero Samantha Keightley is #4 in the NWC in digs.

The Loggers next take on Linfield at home on Saturday, Sept. 21. at 6:00pm.
