NEWBERG, Oregon (January 24, 2025) -- Despite a comeback effort in the fourth quarter, the Loggers (5-11, 4-3 NWC) fell 75-61 to the George Fox Bruins (12-4, 4-3 NWC)
Early in the first quarter, the Loggers stayed close, but the Bruins gradually built a 10-point lead. They ended with a 7-0 run, leaving the Loggers down, 23-13. The Loggers shot just 30% from the field and were 0-for-1 from beyond the arc. Despite a stronger offensive showing in the second quarter, the Loggers couldn't close the gap, and the Bruins led 43-32 at halftime.
The Bruins opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run to extend their lead to 14 points. While both teams shot around 50% in the paint, the Bruins capitalized at the free-throw line, hitting 10 compared to the Loggers' two. The Loggers gained momentum in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bruins 17-10, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Mele Sake led the Loggers with 13 points, followed by Addison Reardon with nine. Autumn Hill, Carmen Cruz, and Claire Thompson each added seven points. Reardon also grabbed four rebounds, while Sake and Thompson each recorded three.
The Loggers will play again tomorrow at 6 p.m. against Willamette University.
