Late Goal by Tamayo Leads to 1-1 Tie With Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash, -- Late heroics by Edgar Tamayo earns Puget Sound a point on the road against Whitworth.

How it Happened
Owen Pschigoda got the log rolling with a shot in the fifth minute, putting solid pressure on the Pirates' back line. The team stayed patient, playing good defense amongst a slew of fouls on Whitworth. Rhys Foote does what he always does, and put a shot on goal in the 15th minute, which was saved by the Pirates' keeper.

Both teams made some substitutions and had some chances, but neither was able to convert in the first half. Foote got himself in the books with a yellow card in the 29th minute, and Whitworth's Lucas Diaz also got a caution in the 37th. The teams went to halftime tied at 0-0.

The pirates started the first half strong, forcing a Luke Mamiya save in the 49th minute, before breaking the ice with a goal in the 58th. The teams battled it out, with the Loggers picking up more shots as the game went on. With only 1:33 remaining on the game clock, the Loggers cashed in. Tamayo found the back of the net, giving the Loggers the game-tying goal with less than two minutes to play. The game ended there, finishing in a 1-1 draw.
