Loggers Fall Short 4-1 Against Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Puget Sound went head-to-head with the No. 1 team in the Northwest Conference, eventually dropping the match 4-1 to the Whitman Blues.

How it Happened
The Blues started off the game on the front foot, putting some pressure on Luke Mamiya, the Loggers' goalie, in the first 17 minutes of the game. Mamiya made two great saves, with one leading to a Logger counterattack. Edgar Tamayo found Jackson Smith, as the Loggers got on the board early in the 18th minute.

Whitman continued to apply offensive pressure, putting a shot off the right woodwork in the 26th minute. The Loggers continued to hold strong, not allowing the Blues to get on the scoresheet. They took a 1-0 lead into halftime, with the hopes of handing Whitman their first loss of the season.

Puget Sound played well to start the second half, holding off the Blues for the first 30 minutes. The Blues, like they have done multiple times this season, found a way to come back. Goals in the 74th, 76th, 80th, and 85th minutes put a damper on the game, as the Loggers make the trek back to Western Washington.

Top Performers
Jackson Smith recorded the Loggers' only goal of the game, leading the team with 2 shots on goal. Luke Mamiya made two saves and held the Blues scoreless in the first half.
