Loggers Cruise Past Crusaders 77-73 to Conclude Homestand

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers complete their homestand with a much-deserved win over the University of Dallas, taking home a 77-73 win over the Crusaders.

How it Happened
Dallas got off to a very quick start, hitting three out of their first four shots to go up 8-0 early. The Loggers started to climb back into the game, pulling within three on an Aaydan Saucedo three-pointer. The Crusaders continued to pull away, extending their lead back to seven, but the Loggers fought right back. A layup by Kobe Smith, and a made free throw and bucket by Dante Deshautelle pulled the Loggers right back within one.

A couple of minutes later, the Loggers pulled right back, as Beckett Turner got in on the action. With the score tied at 17 apiece, the Loggers went on a little roll. A Hugo Rutherford layup pushed their lead to three, as they had the lead with 10:07 left in the first half. The Loggers maintained their lead for a while, extending it to as big as seven on a tough and-one by Zane Miller. They ended the half up four points, 34-30.

After two free throws by the Crusaders, the Lgogers took control to start the second half. Saucedo got a bucket and a free throw, Miller hit a three, and Dezman Baker layed it in to put the Loggers up 42-34. Another tough and-one by Ian Cook pushed the lead to 11, as the Loggers were in full control of the game.

Dallas started to creep back into the game, though, as with 8:40 left to go, the Loggers found themselves only up three. Trevon Hamilton stepped up to the plate, getting another and-one to put the Loggers back up six. The teams duked it out, but a Crusader jumper tied the score up at 64 apiece.

The game was back-and-forth in the final three minutes, as the Loggers reclaimed the lead after a Cook three. Dallas bounced back with three of their own, but the Loggers were smart with their possessions late in the game. The free-throw game started, as an important offensive rebound by Turner all but sealed the game. The Loggers ended up taking this one, 77-73.

Top Performers
Ian Cook finished with 19 points and six rebounds, while Miller and Rutherford both had 11 apiece.

Coach's Thoughts
"Hats off to a well-coached Dallas team that gave us everything we could handle," said Logger head coach Aubrey Shelton. "Great to see our guys step up and make huge plays in the clutch - Hugo with the multiple blocks, Dez taking a charge, Beckett with the offensive board on a free throw, and Zane and Ian with big time buckets. It was a complete team effort with 15 guys making positive contributions- shoutout to Kobe Smith for getting us going in the first half after we came out flat."

What Happens Next
The Loggers head to California over Thanksgiving break, taking on Chapman on Wednesday, November 26th. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
