Loggers Win Overtime Thriller Over Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. -- The Loggers take down Chapman in overtime, winning their first leg of an important California road trip.

How it Happened
Chapman got off to an early lead, going up 4-0 to start, and later extending their lead to eight as the Loggers found themselves down early. A 12-0 run by Puget Sound catapulted them into the drivers seat, as a Zane Miller jumper made it 19-15.

The game stayed close as the half wound down, as the Loggers continued to hold a lead. Miller came in clutch yet again, hitting a shot with four seconds left to make it 31-27. Stout defense was the name of the game in the first half, as the Loggers continued to show their depth on both sides of the ball.

Similar to the first half, Chapman got off to another early run. The Loggers' early scoring drought finally ended over three minutes into the first half, as Beckett Turner knocked down a three to only be down one.

The teams went back and forth, with the Loggers hanging in there with the Panthers. A Hugo Rutherford layup tied the game up at 47 apiece, and a Trevon Hamilton bucket gave the Loggers thier first lead of the half with 6:41 to go.

From there, the Panthers pulled ahead, then the Loggers bounced back. Becket Turner and Miller both hit shots on back-to-back possessions, making it 57-55 in favor of the Loggers. Dezman Baker then got in on the action, giving the Loggers a two-point lead with 1:10 to go. A Chapman bucket with 0:22 left tied the game at 61 apiece, and a missed final possession sent the game to overtime.

Rutherford made the first bucket of the overtime period, and the Loggers never looked back. They only relinquished the lead once in the final period, as Miller and Baker layups put the Loggers up three. The Loggers won the layup game, holding out strong and winning their first game of the road trip, 72-66.
