MCMINNVILLE, Oregon (March 9, 2025) – The Puget Sound Loggers faced a tough challenge against Linfield on Sunday, falling 18-3 after the Wildcats' explosive first quarter put the game out of reach early.
Linfield came out firing, netting 10 goals in the opening quarter while the Loggers worked to find their footing. Despite a strong defensive effort from the Loggers, including 11 saves from
Phoebe Crowther, Linfield's relentless attack proved difficult to contain.
On the offensive end, Puget Sound saw strong contributions from
Amity Humphrey,
Michaela Chen, and
Cat Schilli, who worked hard to generate scoring chances, resulting in a goal each. However, the Loggers struggled to gain momentum against Linfield's aggressive defense. Despite the lopsided score, Puget Sound showed flashes of strong play, particularly in transition, with seven successful clears helping to push the ball upfield.
The Loggers will regroup and focus on their strengths as they prepare for their next matchup. They return home on Tuesday, March 11, to face Occidental, with the game set to begin at 4 p.m.
