NEWBERG, Ore. – The Logger lacrosse team faced a formidable George Fox team, who sit undefeated in Northwest Conference play. Although faced with a tough first half, the Loggers rallied in the second half, eventually falling 19-3 at the Austin Sports Complex.
The Bruins, boasting a 9-4 overall record and a perfect 5-0 in conference, came out strong, establishing a 14-1 lead by halftime. However, the Loggers regrouped during the break and delivered a more composed performance in the second half, limiting the high-powered Bruins offense to just five goals over the final two quarters.
Senior Cat Schilli led the Loggers' offense with two goals, once again showcasing her dominance in the attacking third. Freshman Hailey Woodard contributed with a goal and an assist, an impressive showing as she continues to make her mark in her first season with the Loggers.
In the second half the Loggers defense looked sharp, and were able to disrupt the Bruins' rhythm, while goalkeeper Phoebe Crowther anchored the effort with 10 crucial saves. The final score may have favored the Bruins, but the Loggers' second-half performance underscored the strength and potential of this young team.
The Loggers have a quick turnaround and will play again tomorrow April 19th at 1 p.m. against Pacific University.
