Loggers Fall In Overtime Heartbreaker

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Loggers suffered a narrow 10-9 overtime defeat against Pacific University, despite another standout performance from attacker Cat Schilli.

Schilli led the Loggers with four goals, including two in the opening quarter, helping Puget Sound establish an early 5-3 advantage. Maggie Ott and Malia Bruan also contributed to the early lead, with Ott adding two goals and Bruan scoring once.

Pacific came out strong in the second half, but the Loggers refused to back down. Hailey Woodard and Michaela Chen each added a goal, while Schilli and Ott continued to generate scoring chances. The teams traded goals through the third quarter, with neither side able to pull ahead, leaving the score tied 8-8 heading into the final frame.

Early in the fourth, Puget Sound struck again. Chen capitalized on a clean assist from Ott to push the Loggers ahead 9-8 with just over 14 minutes remaining. From there, it became a defensive battle. With just over two minutes left in regulation, Pacific's Sarah Quade delivered the equalizer to make it 9-9, eventually sending the game to overtime. The Loggers continued to fight, but Quade would strike again, burying the sudden-death winner at the 3:19 mark of OT.

The Loggers' lone keeper, Phoebe Crowther, stood their ground once again, making 11 saves to keep the Loggers in the match.

With two games left in the season the Loggers sit at 4-10 overall and 1-5 in conference. They will return home for their final set of games on Saturday April 26th and 27th.
