TACOMA, Washington (April 5, 2025) – In a tough home matchup, the Puget Sound lacrosse team (3-6, 0-1 NWC) fell to Linfield University (6-3, 2-0 NWC) 22-7 in their second meeting of the season.
Linfield wasted no time, jumping to a commanding lead in the first quarter by scoring eight unanswered goals, leaving the Loggers shut out. Gabby Crist led the charge for the Wildcats, netting four goals in the opening frame alone, while Maya Wright added two goals and two assists. Late in the first quarter,
Hailey Woodard connected with
Michaela Chen, who found the back of the net to break the ice for the Loggers. This was quickly followed by an unassisted goal from Woodard, trimming Linfield's lead to 8-2.
In the second quarter, Puget Sound showed signs of life, with goals from
Cat Schilli,
Maggie Ott, and another from Chen. However, Linfield continued to control the game, with Crist adding another four goals, and the Wildcats never looked back.
Despite strong individual efforts, including additional goals from Schilli and Chen, Puget Sound was unable to match Linfield's offensive firepower. Not reflected in the score are the Loggers' 11 caused turnovers, 14 recovered ground balls, and a season-high 17 draw controls won.
The Loggers return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against the Willamette Bearcats.
