TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers dropped their weekday match against Pacific Lutheran 0-4, but look to bounce back this weekend against Willamette.
How it Happened
The Loggers got an early opportunity in the 12th minute, as a foul in the box gave the Loggers a penalty kick opportunity.
Jackson Smith's attempt was saved by the PLU keeper, turning momentum away from the Loggers. The Lutes capitalized by scoring their first goal in the 24th minute and another in the 37th.
Both teams maintained the physical part of the game, as they logged eight fouls apiece in the first half. Puget Sound didn't let the goals get to them, putting a bit more pressure on the Lutes to start the second half. A shot by
Rhys Foote was saved in the 47th minute, leading to back to back chances from the corner.
Another shot on target by Foote was saved in the 51st minute, maintaining the immense pressure on the Lutes.
Luke Mamiya did a solid job on the other end, making back-to-back saves in the 57th and 58th minutes. A shot slipped past him in the 59th, though, making it 0-3.
The Loggers stepped up the pressure, with three corners in a row, followed by a shot by Smith in the 78th minute.
Ethan Lu and
Owen Pschigoda put up shots late in the game, but couldn't find their mark. The Lutes tacked on another goal in the final two minutes, making it 0-4. That ended the game, as the Loggers look to the future.
