Dubois Nets Two in 5-0 Win Over Boxers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - - Puget Sound delivered a dominant 5-0 road shutout against Pacific on Friday night, controlling the match from start to finish.

How it Happened

The tone was set right out of the gate when the Loggers struck just two minutes in. Kate Short fired an initial shot that forced a save from the Boxer keeper and Madi Jarzynka was positioned perfectly to clean up the rebound and slot it in the back of the net.

Puget Sound kept up the pressure while completely locking down the defensive third, holding the Boxers without any threats. Later in the half, the lead doubled when Sofia Evans delivered a through ball to Anya Dubois, who cut in from the corner and unleashed a left-footed strike into the side of the net to make it 2-0.

The second half brought more of the Logger attack. Just six minutes after the break, a Logger corner kick drew a penalty inside the box. Evans stepped up to the spot and buried the penalty kick, extending the lead 3-0.

The dominance continued as Ellie Rutkin launched a long ball from the backline straight to Dubois, who had a brilliant first touch to beat her defender and find the back of the net for her second goal of the day.

Putting the finishing touches on the night, Megan Ulrich slipped a perfectly weighted pass from the end line into the box for Maya George, who calmly slotted it home for the fifth and final goal of the night.

With the Logger defense completely silencing the Boxers and requiring goalkeeper Gianna Maldonado to make just one save, Puget Sound secures the 5-0 win.

What Happens Next

The Loggers look to keep this momentum alive on Sunday, October 18, when they travel to face George Fox at 2:45 p.m.
