Loggers Roll Past Bruins in 6-0 Shutout

NEWBERG, Ore. - - Puget Sound women's soccer shutout George Fox 6-0 on Sunday afternoon, overwhelming the Bruins' defense with a relentless attack.

How it Happened

The Loggers immediately pushed forward, recording the game's first shot just one minute in when Madi Jarzynka forced a save from the Bruins' goalkeeper.

Puget Sound broke through in the 7th minute after a cross from Sydney Boyd allowed the ball to slip through traffic, finding  Anya Dubois waiting in the box to bury her sixth goal of the season to make it 1-0.

Building on the early momentum, the Loggers struck again shortly after. Defender Ella Oetinger netted her first goal of the season. Receiving a ball from Sofia Evans, Oetinger created plenty of space and ripped a long range strike to extend the lead.

Just a few minutes later, Puget Sound struck again. Evans found the back of the net, connecting on a ball sent across the box by Leila Hausia-Haugen to make it 3-0.

The relentless pressure continued moments later off a corner kick when the George Fox goalkeeper couldn't secure the loose ball, Megan Ulrich bounced on the opportunity instantly, poking at home to make it 4-0.

Refusing to let the Bruins even catch their breath, Puget Sound struck less than a minute later off yet another corner kick. This time, Charlotte Willis delivered the service to the far post, where Ellie Rutkin rose to connect on a header and bury the fifth goal of the day for the Loggers.

The exclamation point on the afternoon came courtesy of Hausia-Haugen. With quick thinking, she intercepted a pass in the midfield, took a touch and unleashed a powerful left footed shot into the side of the net to cap off the day at 6-0.

Defensively, the Loggers completely suffocated the Bruins, limiting them to just four total shots all afternoon and requiring the Puget Sound goalkeepers to make only two saves to preserve the clean sheet.
