PORTLAND, Ore. -- In an impressive night of hitting, the Loggers take down the Lewis & Clark River Otters 3-0 to continue their impressive Northwest Conference play.
How it Happened
As a team, Puget Sound put together a .303 hitting percentage, including hitting .500 in each of their first two sets. They pieced together their best set of the season to start the game, jumping out to a 6-2 start.
Aubrey Tanner got going early, securing two kills and a block in the first three points.
Despite a couple of points from the River Otters, the Loggers locked down the rest of the set. Samantha Keightly went on an elite serving run, as Puget Sound put up an 8-0 run.
Calista Davis followed that up with a 7-0 service run of her own, as
Maddie Badger got it going with two blocks and a kill of her own. The Loggers rode their runs to a 25-7 set one victory.
The second set was also over fairly quickly, as the Loggers got on a 5-1 run early, and never gave up the lead.
Charlotte Fleetwood, Badger, and Tanner all logged kills to start the set, with a
Nicolette Raduziner ace adding the cherry on top. Raduziner had back-to-back kills,
Ursula Harrington got her first kill of the evening, as the Loggers found themselves up 12-6.
An 8-2 run made it 21-10 all of a sudden, as aces by Tanner and Raduziner propelled the Loggers to a pair of stress-free points. Flleetwood and Harrington put the ball on the court with kills of their own during the run, as
Viviann Garcia pounded the final kill of the set for Puget Sound. The Loggers took set two, 25-13.
The third set was more competitive, as the River Otters put up a good battle early. A kill by Badger and a couple of River Otter errors got the Loggers going, but Lewis & Clark got out to their first substantial lead of the game with a 5-1 run. Built for the moment, Tanner and the Loggers went on a run, as she picked up two kills to lead Puget Sound on a 7-0 run. Raduziner was elite in service, putting together two aces to add to Tanner's kills.
Lewis & Clark made the set interesting, as they brough the game back within two points, 18-16. It didn't take much for the Loggers to put the game away, though, as Keightley went on another service run to close out the final seven points in a row. Badger put the exclamation point on the match, hitting back-to-back kills and a block to close out the set. The Loggers take this one, 3-0.
Badger led the way with 4 blocks, as Tanner finished with 10 kills, 13 assists, two blocks, an ace, and six digs to close out the game. Raduziner also played well, hitting .375 with eight kills, and an impressive four aces.
