MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - - Puget Sound earned a 1-0 win against Linfield on Saturday, powered by a first-half penalty kick and a strong defensive effort.
How it Happened
The action was back-and-forth early in the opening half. The Loggers created a scoring opportunity thanks to Sebastian Telles in the second minute with a low shot on goal, while the Wildcats countered a minute later with a header attempt that was turned away.
The moment of the game came at the 21st minute when Rhys Foote converted a penalty kick to put Puget Sound ahead 1-0.
The Loggers continue to test the defense with another shot on goal in the 25th minute and held the lead into halftime following a late first half save.
The second half remained competitive as both teams traded possessions. Puget Sound created quality chances throughout, with Lucas Krause and Mitchell Allison forcing saves on net. The squad nearly doubled the lead when Telles put a shot up and Owen Pschigoda hit the post.
