Badger Leads Loggers to 3-0 Sweep of Wildcats

TACOMA, Wash. -- Following her first Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week award this past Monday, Maddie Badger continued her solid play to lead the Loggers to a 3-0 sweep of LinfieldĀ

How it Happened
The Wildcats threw the first punch, getting out to a 4-1 lead to begin the first set. It took a little bit for the Loggers to recover, but they were able to tie the game at five apiece thanks to Badger and Aubrey Tanner getting their first kills of the evening. Down 8-6, an impressive 9-1 Logger run put them solidly in the lead. Nicolette Raduziner and Viviann Garcia got their first kills of the game, while Samantha Keightley recorded two aces on her service run.Ā

Badge and Tanner added another kill apiece, as Puget Sound held steady throughout the rest of the set. Genna Fink had a powerful kill to make it 19-13, and Mia Fedota got her first kill of the evening as well. Badger put two kills and a block away, as the Loggers cruised to a 4-0 finish to close out the set, 25-16.Ā

Puget Sound got rocking to start the second set, recording three straight kills from Tanner, Badger, and Raduziner to get out to an early 3-0 lead. The Wildcats snapped back, getting their first lead of the set at 6-5. This didn't phase the Loggers, though. As Garcia, Fedora, and Fink all paired up to give the Loggers their lead back.Ā

Tanner had a trio of great kills to keep the Loggers ahead, taking Puget Sound to the second-set media timeout. Despite the Wildcats tying the game up, a 5-1 Logger run put the set out of reach. Raduziner notched a pair of kills, and Badger had back-to-back blocks to make it 23-19. Two Linfield serving errors gave the Loggers the second-set victory, 25-22.Ā

Starting the third set with a different lineup, the Loggers went back-and-forth with Lifnield to start the third set. Badger smoked an easy kill, and a Tanner ace hit the court to make it 5-4. This sparked a 7-1 Puget Sound run, as Ursula Harrington got her first two kills of the game. Several Linfield errors aided the Loggers' run, as Keightley's third ace extended their lead to four. Badger got her third block, Garcia got her fourth kill, extending Puget Sound's lead to six.Ā

Linfield wasn't quite done yet, pulling the game within two late in the set. Back-to-back Badger kills helped the Loggers pull away, as Calistta Davis added an ace to put the Cherry on top. Final kills by Raduziner and Badger got the set to match point, with Charlotte Fleetwood getting a solo block to complete the sweep, 25-20.Ā

Badger hit .500 with 13 kills, and 4 blocks, and Keightley led the way defensively with 15 digs and three aces.Ā
