Loggers Earn 2-0 Win on Senior Day

TACOMA, Wash. - - The Logger men's soccer team had a successful senior day, shutting out Lewis & Clark 2-0 at Baker Stadium on Saturday.

Prior to kickoff, the Loggers celebrated their seniors for their contributions to the program, honoring Alex Haugard, Ethan Lu, Sebastian Telles, Logan Tracy and team captain Rhys Foote.

How it Happened

Puget Sound wasted no time establishing their presence in the offensive third. Just over a minute into the game, Owen Foley fired a shot on frame that forced a save from the River Otter goalkeeper. The Loggers kept the defense scrambling with several dangerous looks in the minutes that followed.

Despite waves of pressure, the Lewis and Clark defense managed to hold the line until the closing minutes of the half. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 42nd minute when Jackson Smith cut through the box to rifle a strike past the keeper and give Puget Sound a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Less than a minute after the second half began, Smith was a playmaker yet again. He sent in a cross into the box where Rhys Foote rose to finish it cleanly with a header, doubling the score to 2-0.

Puget Sound added 11 more shots in the final half, constantly threatening with dangerous opportunities. Jarren Merced came close to adding a third goal when his shot rattled off the crossbar, while Joel Wollin forced a save from the keeper with a shot on net.

While the Logger offense kept the pressure up, the backline and goalkeeper Mason Allison played with composure on the other end of the field. Allison had a strong defensive effort that limited Lewis & Clark to just four total shots and one single shot on goal across all 90 minutes, securing a clean sheet.
