Schilli's Six Goals Lead Loggers Past Mountaineers

TACOMA, Wash. - - The Loggers earned a hard-fought 14-13 win over the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon at Baker Stadium.

How It Happened

Eastern Oregon struck first, but the Loggers answered quickly. Cat Schilli found the back of the net to even things up, and Maggie Ott followed with a goal of her own. The teams continued to trade goals throughout the opening quarter, with each side netting three.

Puget Sound found a spark in the second quarter. Schilli added her second of the day, and Willa Twomey capitalized on a strong offensive possession to give the Loggers a two-goal edge. The Mountaineers responded, keeping the game within one, but another Logger finish late in the half sent Puget Sound into the break with the advantage.

Eastern Oregon came out strong in the third, putting together a run that evened the score once again. But the Logger offense persisted. Schilli scored her third of the day, while Ott added another to keep the Loggers in front heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter came down to the last few minutes. Eastern Oregon tied the game early in the quarter and later cut the Logger lead to one in the closing minutes. Twomey scored her second of the day to give Puget Sound breathing room, and the Logger defense came up with a key stop late to preserve the 14-13 win.
