Linfield Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat Puget Sound

TACOMA, Wash. - - The Logger women's lacrosse team fell to the Linfield Wildcats, 15-8, on Sunday afternoon at Peyton Field.

How It Happened

Linfield opened the game with an early offensive push in the first quarter, scoring five goals while Puget Sound stayed close with three of its own. Senior Cat Schilli helped pace the Loggers' early offense as Puget Sound worked to counter Linfield's quick start.

The Loggers found momentum in the second quarter, tightening the game with a strong offensive stretch. Puget Sound scored four goals in the period, including contributions from Hailey Woodard and Willa Twomey, to tie the game 7-7 heading into the half.

Linfield regained control in the third quarter, producing the game's decisive run. The Wildcats scored six unanswered goals in the period while holding the Loggers scoreless, shifting the momentum and extending their lead heading into the final quarter.

Puget Sound continued to battle in the fourth, with Maggie Ott adding a goal, but Linfield added two more to secure the 15-8 result.

Schilli led the Loggers offensively with three goals, consistently creating opportunities and finishing in key moments throughout the game. Woodard also contributed a strong performance with two goals and one assist, helping drive Puget Sound's productive second-quarter surge. 

What Happens Next

Puget Sound will look to regroup as they continue their season on Thursday, March 19. The Loggers will travel to Forest Grove, Oregon to take on the Pacific Boxers at 6:00 PM.
