High Scoring Third Quarter Not Enough for Loggers Against Pacific

TACOMA, Wash. - - Puget Sound women's lacrosse honored seniors Eden Davies, Kylie Sullivan, and Cat Schilli Saturday at Baker Stadium, falling 18-13 to Pacific. Despite a mid-game comeback that brought the Loggers within one goal, a late scoring run by the Boxers secured the win.

How it Happened

The Boxers opened with a five goal first quarter, but Puget Sound responded behind Maggie Ott, who put the Loggers on the board late in the period. The momentum shifted in the third quarter as Cat Schilli scored three times including a strike, assisted by Hailey Woodard to cut the lead to 7–6.

The teams traded goals for the rest of the time. Amity Humphrey converted a man-up free position shot and Willa Twomey found the back of the net to keep the offense rolling. Piper Lewis capped the third quarter surge with a late goal to make it a 11–10 game heading into the final period.

Pacific pulled away in the fourth with six unanswered goals. Schilli responded with her fifth goal of the game and Twomey added a free-position goal, but the deficit was too large. Lewis added a final tally in the closing minute, winning a draw control and taking it the length of the field to score.

What Happens Next

The Loggers have a quick turnaround as they remain at Baker Stadium to host George Fox University tomorrow, Sunday, April 19. Draw is scheduled for 1 PM.
