TACOMA, Wash. - - Logger women's lacrosse closed out their home schedule on Sunday, facing off against George Fox, falling in a 25-4 score.
How it Happened
The Loggers came out strong in the opening quarter, responding to an early George Fox goal with an offensive push. The team showed discipline, earning and converting three straight free-position attempts.
Cat Schilli put the Loggers on the board first with a composed strike. Less than a minute later, Willa Twomey followed suit, hitting home a goal of her own. Piper Lewis capped off the scoring run shortly after, proving the Loggers' efficiency at the 8-meter spot.
After a defensive second quarter, the Loggers continued to battle in the second half. Maggie Ott found the back of the net in the third-quarter, rewarded for her persistence after several strong looks at the goal earlier.
The Bruins showcased why they sit at the top of conference standings, capitalizing on a fourth quarter run to distance themselves and pull away with the win.
The highlight of the afternoon belonged to Schilli, as she has officially etched her name into the Puget Sound record books, breaking the program record for most draw controls. Her dominance in the circle has been a cornerstone of the Logger midfield and she now stands alone as the all-time leader in that category.
