SALEM, Ore. - - Logger baseball clinched their three-game series over Willamette on Sunday, storming back for a 6-5 win in extra innings.
How it Happened
The Bearcats jumped out to an early lead, scoring one in the first and adding two more in the bottom of the fourth. For most of the afternoon, the Loggers were knocking on the door, but couldn't quite breakthrough, trailing 3–0 heading into the late innings.
The momentum finally shifted in the top of the seventh. Preston Crockett and Ryan Tobler set the stage with back-to-back singles. After a sacrifice bunt by Charlie Deggeller moved them up, Kahiau Teruya stepped up and ripped a two-run single up the middle, bringing the Loggers within one.
Willamette answered back with a run in the bottom half, but the Loggers refused to quit. In the top of the ninth, facing a 4–2 deficit and down to their final outs, the Loggers rallied. Deggeller hit an RBI single to score Crockett. With the pressure on, Deggeller was picked off first but stayed in the rundown long enough for Travis Ujimori to sprint home and tie the game.
After two tense scoreless innings, the Loggers took over in the top of the 11th. Teruya was hit by a pitch and advanced on a wild pitch, setting the table for Matt Churchill.
Churchill delivered the swing of the game, a massive two-run home run to centerfield, giving Puget Sound their first lead of the day at 6–4.
Zach Robman earned the win on the mound starting in the bottom of the ninth. Over three intense innings, Robman faced nine batters and recorded two strikeouts, only giving up two hits and a single run to keep the Loggers in a good position for the win.

The bottom half of the 11th was a nail-biter. Willamette managed to score one on a sacrifice fly to make it 6–5, but the Logger's defense held strong. The final out was recorded on a grounder to the pitcher, clinching the 11-inning thriller and a massive series win for Puget Sound.
