TACOMA, Wash. - - Logger women's soccer defeated the Wheaton College Thunder on Saturday afternoon 1-0.
How it Happened
Puget Sound controlled play from the opening whistle, finding shot after shot all first half without finding the back of the net. Heading into halftime scoreless, they weren't worried, with the shots piling up it felt like only a matter of time.
That moment came in the 63rd minute when Kate Short buried one off a feed from Maya George from a cross.
The stats say it all. The Loggers put up 24 shots to Wheaton's zero. The Loggers also got the edge in corners, controlling the game from start to finish.
Defensively, it was a lockdown. Hayden Goodman and Ellie Rutkin held down the backline, playing all 90 minutes and keeping the Thunder out of scoring opportunities.
