TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers take down the Bruins in straight sets, extending their win streak to five, and their set win streak to 15.
How it Happened
The Loggers got off to a slow start in the first set, as the Bruins came ready to play. Finding themselves in a 10-4 deficit, the Loggers started to crawl back into the match.
Mary Denny and
Nicolette Raduziner both had kills during a 5-1 run to put the Loggers back within two. The Bruins responded with another run to put them up six, but the Loggers started to turn on the jets.
Maddie Badger recorded back-to-back kills,
Ursula Harrington got into the mix, and a ton of forced Bruin errors put the Loggers on top.
Aubrey Tanner went on an impressive 7-0 service run to give the Loggers a 22-18 lead, and three more Bruin errors helped the Loggers polish set one off 25-22.
After a back-and-forth start to the second set, the Loggers settled into a nice 9-1 run to put the set nearly out of reach. Harrington had two kills during that span, with Raduziner picking up four kills for herself. The Loggers continued to add to their run, as Raduziner added another kill,
Calista Davis served a wicked ace, and Badger secured back-to-back blocks in a 5-0 span. Denny hit well at the end of the set, with two more kills giving the Loggers a 25-13 set win.
Puget Sound kicked the third set with a 5-2 run, as Badger got three kills in the first four Logger points to put tehm on top.
Camryn Shigemasa then locked in an ace, but the Bruins were able t otie the game at six apiece. A 7-1 Logger run ensued, putting Puget Sound back on top. Samantha Keighley served an impressive four aces in a row, forcing a Fox sub and a timeout as well.
The Bruins went on a 10-2 run of their own, pulling ahead for the first time in the set, 17-16. A Raduziner killl and Shigemasa ace tied the game at 19 apiece, but the Bruins got some momentum. Down 23-20, the Loggers went on a 5-1 run to go up 25-24. A Final block by Badger ended the match, as the Loggers swept the Bruins for their fifth win in a row.
