Men's Soccer Earns 1-1 Draw Against Chapman

TACOMA, Wash, -- The Loggers fought for a well-earned point against the Chapman Panthers, starting their season undefeated in two games.

How it Happened
The Loggers pressed on the gas pedal early, as shots by Vinny Self and Rhys Foote just missed the frame in the first five minute. Foote added another shot a moment later, which was blocked out of play for the Loggers' first corner of the day. The Panthers responded with some pressure of their own, switching the momentum heading into the 20th minute. In the 25th minute, Lupin Paz forced the first save of the match, and Joel Wollin followed it up a couple of minutes later with another chance in the box.

In the last 15 minutes of the first half, the Panthers started peppering the ball at Logger keeper Paxton Rose. The pressure added up after a pair of saves, as the Panthers got on the board with 12 seconds to go in the first half.

The Loggers weren't done yet, though, as they responded just three minutes into the second half. Following a second ball on a corner kick, Self hit a beauty of a strike to the bottom right corner of the net, tying the game at one apiece.

For the rest of the game, the Loggers only put one more shot on goal. They turned their focus to their defense, who kept the Panthers out of the back of the net. Freshman Mason Allison was impressive in goal for Puget Sound, making three key saves in the final 30 minutes of the game. The Loggers' back line kept stepping up as well, clearing away dangerous balls, and blocking several shots out wide. They held onto the 1-1 score for the rest of the match, earning a point at home against Chapman.

What Happens Next
The Loggers take next weekend off before playing George Fox at home for their first Northwest Conference game of the season on Saturday, September 19th. Kickoff is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM.
