Saints Best Loggers In Midweek Contest

Box Score

LACEY, Wash. – The University of Puget Sound baseball team travelled down to Lacey for a midweek contest with St. Martin's. The Loggers (11-11, 9-3 NWC) fell in an early 7-0 hole en route to an 8-3 loss.

The Division II Saints (17-13) climbed on top early with a pair of runs in the first. Travis Jones and Josh Grenier stroked back-to-back RBI-singles to give the Saints the lead.

In the third, the Saints broke the game open with five runs. Cody Brooks bases loaded double plated three of them.

Cam Duvall entered in the third and threw well for the Loggers, tossing 4.1 innings and scattering five hits. He allowed one run in the outing.

The Loggers did all of their scoring in the seventh with three runs on four hits. Christian Carter broke the Loggers silence when his double brought in Addison Melzer and Jeff Walton. Dakota Resnik added the Loggers third run with an RBI-single that scored Andrew Grady.

The Loggers will get back into conference action this weekend when they host No. 22 George Fox for a three-game series at West Field. It will be the second consecutive weekend for the Loggers taking on a nationally-ranked foe.
