PORTLAND, Oregon – Ten Loggers touched home plate as the Puget Sound baseball team's bats erupted in a 15-3 victory at Lewis & Clark on Sunday afternoon. Puget Sound won two of three games against the Pioneers this weekend and amassed 29 runs on 41 hits. 

Connor Savage continued his torrid streak at the plate and finished a double shy of hitting for the cycle on Sunday. He hit 4-for-6 with four runs, three RBI, a triple, and his first home run of the season.

Puget Sound (4-6, 2-1 NWC) starting pitcher Merle Rowan-Kennedy earned the win by yielding just four hits and an earned run through five innings. 

The Loggers and Pioneers (1-7, 1-2 NWC) exchanged runs in the first inning, but Puget Sound crossed the plate four times in the third. Savage led off with a single up the middle and Nickolas Alarcio followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position. Zerio lifted a fly ball that was mishandled by the Pioneers' fight fielder, allowing both Savage and Alarcio to score.

Layne Croney followed with a bunt single to put runners on the corners, and he proceeded to steal second base. Bobby Hosmer came through with a two-run single to give the Loggers a 5-1 lead.

Puget Sound added three more runs in the next inning, highlighted by Savage's two-run blast to right field. A three-run seventh inning pushed the lead to 11-1, and the Loggers added four more in the ninth inning, including two from sac flies by Ian Hughes and Ben Jones.

Puget Sound opens its home schedule with a doubleheader against Linfield on Saturday, Feb. 28, beginning at 11 a.m.
