Baseball drops non-conference game at Pacific Lutheran, 6-1

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound baseball team dropped a non-conference game at crosstown rival Pacific Lutheran on Tuesday evening, 6-1.

Kaulana Smith (1-for-3, RBI) hit an RBI single for the Loggers (12-13) in the seventh inning to score Alex Sierra (0-for-2, R), who reached base on a throwing by the PLU (20-8) shortstop. Sierra took second base on the errant throw, and James Dejesus (0-for-4) moved him to third base with groundout to first.

The Lutes scored one run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. They responded to Smith's RBI with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Nick Funyak collected his sixth multi-hit game of the season by going 2-for-4.

Puget Sound returns to conference play with a doubleheader at George Fox on Friday, April 3, at 12 p.m.
