Box Score SEATTLE, Washington – Connor Savage and Troy Kakugawa both collected two hits, and Logan Day came through with an RBI single, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost at Division-I Seattle, 9-1, Wednesday night.
A pair of Logger (15-19) errors in the first inning put Puget Sound in the hole, 2-0, but they got a run back in the second inning. Nathan Backes (1-for-3, R) led off with a single, and Kakugawa (2-for-3) followed with a single of his own. Johnny Hosmer (1-for-1) laid down a sac bunt to advance both runners, and Day (1-for-2, RBI) singled up the middle to plate Backes.
The Loggers trailed, 3-1, through three innings, but threatened to score in the fourth. Kakugawa and Hosmer hit back-to-back singles with one out, but a double play ended Puget Sound's bid.
The Redhawks struck for four runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
Seattle narrowly outhit the Loggers, 9-8. Puget Sound committed three errors, and the Redhawks had one miscue in the field.
The Loggers travel to southern California for a three-game series at Redlands beginning on Friday, April 17. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
