Box Score SALEM, Oregon – The Puget Sound women's soccer team recorded a clean sheet for the fifth time this season, as the team tied Willamette, 0-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The first half was a battle in the midfield, with the two teams only combining for three shots.
The second half proved to be more offensive, with each team recording a shot in the first three minutes of the period. Puget Sound (7-1-1, 4-0-1 NWC) outshot Willamette (4-4-1, 1-3-1 NWC) 7-3 in the second half, including a 3-2 shot on goal advantage. However, the Loggers were unable to put one of their shots in the net, and the game moved into overtime.
Neither team was able to get a shot off in the first 10 minute period of overtime. In the second period, the Bearcats had a shot go wide in the 104th minute. Emma Donckels put a shot on target for the Loggers in the 109th minute, but Willamette keeper Emily Sewall was able to make a save and preserve the tie.
The Loggers outshot the Bearcats, 9-6, while Willamette took more corner kicks (5-1). Goalkeeper Lauren Thomas (7-1-1) played all 180 minutes, making one save. Annie Prickett led the Loggers with three shots.
Puget Sound's next match will be Sunday, October 2, when the team wraps up its road trip at Linfield. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
