Box Score McMINNVILLE, Oregon – The Puget Sound volleyball team erased a 2-0 deficit to shock Linfield, 3-2 (24-26, 16-25, 28-26, 25-22, 18-16), on Saturday night.
The win marks the Loggers' (13-5, 8-2 NWC) second time coming back from a 2-0 hole against a Northwest Conference team on the road this season (at Whitworth, Sept. 30).
Three Loggers totaled double-digit kills, led by Kristen Lane with 16. Both Hannah Stinson and Katie Rice finished with 12 kills. Lane also added 15 digs.
Rachael Garrison totaled a team-high 32 digs. Kayla Thaller led Puget Sound with 28 assists, and Moira McVicar added 19.
Neither team trailed by more than two points in the fifth set. Linfield (8-8, 3-7 NWC) held a 13-12 lead, but a kill by Lane follow by a Stinson ace quickly turned the tables and gave Puget Sound a 14-13 edge.
The Wildcats grabbed the next point, but a kill by Rice put the Loggers back on top. The Wildcats were on the brink of victory, 16-15, after posting consecutive points. However, a Linfield error by a kill from Shelby Kantner gave Puget Sound the win.
The Loggers next host crosstown rival Pacific Lutheran on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m.
