TACOMA, Washington – Nickolas Alarcio hit his second home run of the season, but the solo shot wasn't nearly enough as Pacific toppled the Puget Sound baseball team, 19-8, on Logger Baseball Field Sunday afternoon. The Loggers still come away with a series win after sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday.

Alarcio cleared the left-field wall to lead off the bottom of the second inning, but the dinger cut the Boxers' (8-9, 4-5 NWC) lead to only 7-2. Pacific opened the game with four runs in the first inning and three more in the second.

Nick Funyak put the Loggers (6-10, 4-5 NWC) on the board in the first inning with an RBI single that scored Cal Muramaru from third base. Muramaru led off the inning with a double, and he moved up one base thanks to a balk.

Trailing 18-3, Puget Sound rallied for five runs in the home half of the seventh inning. Jack Gries and Robby Lundquist hit RBI singles during the rally, and Jordan Hirae came through with a two-run double. Alex Sierra was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to account for the other run in the stanza.

Despite the nine-run loss, the Loggers collected a season-high 14 hits, including multiple hits by Alarcio, Funyak, and Matt Shelhamer.

Puget Sound takes to the road for a three-game series at Willamette starting on Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m.
